Millennials apparently are leading the charge into more healthy eating. Now this is not just low fat or low calories, but a search for clean eating with transparent ingredients.
"Interestingly, Australian owned and grown is seen as most important to the millennial generation when considering healthy eating (36%), followed by locally grown (31%) and no additives or preservatives (24%)."
In 2017, healthy eating consumption was 14% of food service traffic with $5.8 billion and 644 million visits! This has created a "healthy indulgence" category in food service. Other report highlights were the growth in online meal ordering with order volumes doubling in 5 years.
