#buyfromthebush - what a fabulous campaign!

So exciting to see resilient people get moving faced with adversity. In the last week, Grace Brennan, based in Warren NSW, has launched a campaign to support rural businesses, under the hashtag #buyfromthebush. Yesterday, they hit 50,000 followers. Their Instagram page has a wonderful spread of smart rural businesses doing great things in all corners of Australia. This is a tangible support for Australian rural business in times of drought and is reaping immediate rewards. Well done Grace.
In Braidwood NSW, we may not think of ourselves as remote - we are after all one hour from the nation's capital! This week we were reminded though that our retail customers are facing significant downturn, quiet main streets and limited disposable income in their community. Talking to a beautiful gourmet foodstore in western Victoria, it was clear that they had no capacity to buy new stock at all, until the rain comes. We are all interconnected in our endeavours, and perhaps this Christmas you can make a mission of "buying from the bush"!
