Jenny and Cathy are friends first and producers of great garlic gourmet products next. Jenny is a fourth generation farmer coming from broad acre farming in Ungarie. She is committed to quality production with a fine eye for detail. Cathy brings too much gourmet food eating from Sydney. She is a passionate cook and sees opportunities for black garlic product development. Both families farm in the Braidwood area and Garlicious® Grown developed from conversations, thoughts and dreams to diversify and value add to our farming lives. Garlicious® Grown is part of the BraidGarlic growers co-operative reflecting the strength of garlic farming in the Braidwood area. The business aims to deliver premium gourmet ingredients to a wide audience, from chefs and restaurants to individual cooks enjoying great food. So far so good - our products are being stocked by fabulous retailers, selling direct to the public and recognised in the 2015 Royal Agricultural Society Fine Food Awards - Regional Produce, 2016 Australian Food Awards, the 2016 delicious magazine Produce awards and the 2016 Royal Agricultural Society Fine Food Awards.
About Black Garlic
While not organically certified, our garlic is grown chemical free using permaculture principles, on our farms or by friends in the Braidwood area. The garlic benefits from our cold frosty winters bringing forth wonderful flavour. Purple and white garlic is grown in soil enriched with farm made compost, rice straw mulch and rain. Garlic is progressively harvested from mid-November and hung to maximise flavour with moisture moving down the stalks to the cloves. The heads are cleaned and slowly caramelised on farm with controlled temperature and humidity. There are no extra ingredients just pure unadulterated garlic.
